Resources That Keep Me Rooted: My Favorite Faith Tools for Everyday Life
In a world where content is constantly at our fingertips, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of voices—even within Christian spaces. With so many apps, blogs, books, and podcasts, it can be hard to know what’s biblically sound, what’s helpful, and what truly points us back to God.
As someone who loves both digital and printed resources, I’ve found it so valuable to have tools that help me stay grounded in Scripture—whether I’m at home with my Bible open or squeezing in a few moments of truth on the go.
Today, I wanted to share some of my absolute favorites. These are resources I return to again and again because they’re biblically faithful, beautifully designed, and genuinely helpful for everyday life and study.
🌿Digital Devotional Communities I Love
She Reads Truth. More than just a Bible study app, She Reads Truth is a whole movement to help women be in the Word of God every day. I love their reading plans and devotionals that never replace Scripture but instead work alongside it. Their app and printed study books are both beautiful and intentional.
First 5 (by Proverbs 31 Ministries). This app is designed to help you give the first five minutes of your day to God. It walks you through entire books of the Bible with brief, rich devotionals that are perfect for busy mornings.
(in)courage. An honest and uplifting community for women of faith. The daily devotionals and blog posts are authentic, grace-filled, and focused on connecting your everyday life with God’s truth.
🎧 Podcasts That Feed My Soul
While I don’t listen to all the popular Christian podcasts, I do have a few that truly speak to me and help me grow in my faith week after week:
She Reads Truth Podcast. This companion to the She Reads Truth studies offers conversations rooted in Scripture with thoughtful guests and lots of grace. It’s like joining a Bible study with friends.
Back Porch Theology with Lisa Harper. Lisa Harper blends joy, depth, and theology in such an approachable way. Listening to her feels like being wrapped in biblical wisdom with a side of laughter.
PV Winona Podcast (My Local Church). This one is especially dear to me because it’s from my own church! Staying connected to local teaching, even when I’m traveling or busy, has been such a gift.
Athey Women. Produced by the women’s ministry of Athey Creek Church, this podcast is grounded in truth and always brings Scripture to the center. Their Devoted series and bible studies are incredible. It’s been such an encouragement in my walk.
📲 Bible Apps That Help Me Stay in the Word
Dwell. If you love listening to Scripture, Dwell is an amazing audio Bible app. You can choose voice narrators, background music, and curated listening plans that make the Bible come alive in a fresh way. I especially love the Breath Prayers and Daily Psalms, in addition to their Daily Devotional.
📚 Printed Resources That Anchor Me
There’s something about physically holding the Word or flipping through a trusted study book that just helps things sink in deeper. These are a few of my go-to printed resources:
CSB She Reads Truth Bible. This is my well loved and used bible, and miraculously survived the house fire. While it got a little water damage, I still love it and kept it as a reminder of God’s mercy and protection during the fire. Not only is it beautiful, but it includes reading plans, devotionals, and helpful charts right in the Bible. The layout is clean, and the extras don’t distract from the text—they enhance it.
HCSB / CSB Every Day Study Bible (Holman). This study Bible is a wonderful all-in-one resource for both daily reading and deeper study. It offers rich commentary and insightful notes, making it easy to use while remaining theologically grounded. It also holds deep personal significance for me. After the fire, I didn’t know my Bible had survived, so I reached out to my pastor to ask if I could borrow one. I expected to just borrow a copy, but instead, he gifted me a brand-new Bible—the one I use now. It marks a new chapter in my life, a time when I’m committed to staying rooted in my faith and growing deeper in understanding.
Why These Resources Matter
I don’t share these because they’re trendy or “aesthetic.” I share them because they’ve helped me open my Bible, hear God's voice more clearly, and apply truth to my everyday life. Whether you’re new in your faith or have been walking with Jesus for a long time, I believe we all benefit from tools that keep us rooted.
If you’re looking to grow in consistency, dig deeper, or just feel less alone in your walk—maybe start with one of these and see how God meets you there.
And I’d love to hear from you: What resources have helped you stay grounded in your faith? Drop your favorites in the comments or send me a message. Let’s keep encouraging one another to stay in the Word and walk with purpose.
