Praying in the Quiet, Living in the Light

It’s been a while since I’ve written in this space. Life and work have been full, and I found myself pausing to consider what direction I wanted this blog to take. One thing I keep coming back to, though, is my deep love for the idea of Christlike hospitality—a way of living that feels more essential than ever in an uncertain world.

This week, like many, I’ve felt the heaviness of violence, heartbreak, and global unrest. It’s overwhelming at times. In those moments, I turn to the Word. Scripture is our daily bread—steadying, nourishing, and faithful in both joy and sorrow. In my quiet time this morning, I was reminded again: Christ is our peace. In Him we find comfort, strength, and a light that no darkness can extinguish.

Jesus spoke of a time when the world would be filled with wars, suffering, and uncertainty—a time like now. Yet, He promised His presence. And that is where our hope rests. So today, I invite you to pause. Be still. Listen for the voice of God. And pray.

  • Pray for those grieving unimaginable losses.

  • Pray for those still grieving the loss of loved ones from 9/11 on the 24th anniversary of the tragic event.

  • Pray for the family and friends mourning Charlie Kirk, a brother-in-Christ, taken way too soon. His voice was a steady witness to faith and reason in a noisy world, and his loss is profound.

  • Pray for the family and friends of Iryna Zarutska, a family who fled war-torn Ukraine, only for her to be senselessly murdered. A death, just as profound and troubling.

  • Pray for protection and peace for families suddenly facing life without their loved ones.

  • Pray for peace in homes and nations. For compassion to rise and for hearts to be softened.

  • Pray for the courage to keep practicing hospitality—to keep opening our hearts, our hands, and our homes to others, even when it feels hard.

Because when we open our hearts and our homes, when we choose to show love, respect, and kindness even in the face of darkness, we reflect the unshakable light of God. May His peace guard your heart today, friends. And may His light shine brightly through each of us. Amen.
